We can proudly say we are Abanyamulenge not just because of the sacrifices of our ancestors, but also because of the resilience of those who are still back home, facing human rights abuses while preserving our identity and continuing the fight for our rights.

While many of us may now live in Western countries, thriving in our careers, education, and daily lives, we must never forget who made that possible. Our identity would not exist without the community back home, those who have given more than money could ever offer. They have given us something far more valuable: AN IDENTITY.

Don’t let greed or comfort blind you to this truth. When you are asked to support IWACU and advocate for our people back home, remember that your financial support does more than just provide security, aid, and resources, it also preserves your own identity in these Western societies. You’re not just helping them you’re helping yourself.

The support you give allows you to walk with your head held high, knowing you come from somewhere, that you belong to a people, and that you have a place to call home
