Angie Tiwari has been practicing yoga her entire life. She grew up in an Indian Hindu household where breathing techniques, poses, and chanting were the norm. But when she rediscovered yoga in gyms/studios, it felt so far removed from the practice that she knew she didn’t actually recognize them as the same. Since then, she has been on a mission to uplift South Indian culture and decolonize yoga.

In this enriching episode, Michelle and Angie discuss the decolonization of yoga and how to support the empowerment of South Indian culture as a yoga teacher teaching in studios and gyms.

Angie is starting her next 50 hour Yoga Teacher Training, Rooted in Respect, offering students the opportunity to vulnerably look at the history and culture that is the foundation of yoga.
