In this week's episode we'll be talking to Roy Munin, CEO & Cofounder of Jerusalem's successfull start-up and tech community, Made in Jerusalem, which helped 5x the city's tech startups per year and bring billions of dollars in tech investment to the city. Roy was recognized by Forbes in 2017 as one of Forbes 30 under 30, and was in that same year awarded the WeWork Creator Awards. He is also one of 100 of the first global Fellows at Facebook's Community Leadership Program (2018) and one of Jerusalem's first Global Shapers at the World Economic Forum (2019). Most recently Roy initiated Side Project Club JLM and Side Project Club TLV, a community which brings developers, digital designers and marketers together on a weekly basis to work on and test entrepreneurial initiatives and ideas on the side of their day job. Roy's first experience as a community builder and how it got him "hoked" and passionate about the power of "representing something bigger than yourself". 16:44: How to grow and scale a community examplified by MadeinJLM's growth. In short: Start at an individual level, build a small core/leadership forum, and then scale from there with regular events and actively reaching out to people who's not part of the "bubble" of the first core group. 28:40: How Roy organized himself meetings with key people from some of the top tech companies in silicon valley. Hint: It's all about the community leaders 35:50: How Roy got a meeting with the entire team of Facebook Groups in Silicon Valley. 42:30: Side Project Club - A new supportive community for aspiring entreprenuers to test their start-up ideas and find partners to their projects. 51:10: How to customize your own DYI CRM-system: Airtable, Google contacts, integromate and contacts+ Roy is one of the best community builders I know, an amazing networker, super-connector and a stellar entrepreneur. He has a great ability to bring people together, connect the dots, create frameworks that fosters entrepreneurship and collaboration in a fun and inclusive atmosphere. What most motivated me to ask Roy to interview for this podcast is his unique superpower: To create meaningfull relations in a genuine way, rally people around his ideas, connecting people, which helps him get things done on zero budget. So in this episode we'll dive deeper into Roy's personal story and philosophy on relationship and community building.
