I brought a former Del. Co. (Delaware County) native on the podcast! Kerri Hays! This is no normal dinner talk conversation on mental health; we get deep, Kerri gets honest, vulnerable, and straight forward about her lived experience, her healing journey, and her highs & lows when it comes to her personal mental health experiences. We covered so much in this hour, it was EXTREMELY impactful! We discussed the stigma surrounding mental health, the role of medication, the role of therapy, the need for education and awareness, and so much more! Kerri was not afraid to share her journey of how she navigated her anxiety and depression, how she went about seeking help, and the tools she used to help her manage her mental health. What I really hope this episode does for everyone listening is normalizes discussing mental health and providing support to those in need.
Key Takeaways:

  • Brain health is a vital topic that needs more discussion.
  • Seeking help is a brave step towards recovery.
  • Medication is a tool, not a fix-all solution.
  • Therapy requires active participation and vulnerability.
  • Finding the right therapist is crucial for effective treatment.
  • Education on mental health symptoms can prevent crises.
  • Hormonal changes can significantly impact mental health.
