Nigeria is approaching the 2027 general election and questions are being raised about the method of selecting the Chair of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Currently, the President appoints the INEC Chair, subject to Senate confirmation. What would happen if the INEC Chair were selected by an independent panel instead? Would this strengthen electoral credibility or open other challenges?
This is what we are going to explore in today’s episode of Nigeria Daily.
