In this episode of the Nightmare Success in and Out podcast, host Brent Cassity interviews Sam Mangel, a high profile federal prison consultant who shares his jarring personal experience of going through the federal criminal justice system. Sam woke up in he early morning with a swarm of FBI agents at his door. He had no idea why they were there. They handcuffed him and put him in the back of the car giving him barley enough time to yell out to his wife to call an attorney. Sam shares how unprepared he was to handle all that was before him. The attorney told Sam he would receive probation. At the day of sentencing the judge went outside the guidelines and sentenced him to 5 years and immediately remanded him into custody. He then went through what is called "diesel therapy" on buses for weeks. The conversation covers topics such as the initial shock of the arrest, the importance of the pre-sentencing report, and the challenges of navigating the prison system. He emphasizes the importance of staying out of trouble and finding ways to cope with the harsh realities of prison. After his release, Sam found a passion to help people like him to navigate through their nightmare using what he learned through his own experience. He focuses on the mindset of what it takes to successfully reintegrate back into society. He emphasizes the need for humility, forgiveness, and a survivor mentality in overcoming the challenges of reentry. Show sponsors: White Collar Support Group prisonist.org Start Here.
