Manage episode 485557616 series 2532122
This week on Oh Crumbs we speak to Olympian swimmer Becky Adlington about her coeliac disease last year. We talked about how her diagnosis came about, adjusting to life on a gluten free diet, the amazing free from community and how she now feels like a totally new person!
PLEASE NOTE: This interview contains conversation about miscarriage and baby loss.
In this episode Becky talks about how her coeliac diagnosis came about after miscarriage and the stillbirth of her daughter Harper, and how she has been campaigning to raise awareness of recurrent miscarriage as a symptom. She also explains how she has been campaigning for support for parents who have experienced baby loss with the charity Petals (link below).
Becky took us through her whole journey adapting to being gluten free, from the difficulties of eating out and worrying about whether or not to test her children for coeliac, to the cost of gluten free food and her thoughts on the prescription ‘postcode lottery’ in the UK.
Oh, and of course in true Sarah and Laura style, we also discussed opening our own Wasabi farm. So tune in to find out what that’s all about!!
