In the first message of our Advent series, we looked at Luke 1:26–37, when Gabriel comes to Mary and announces God’s plan for her to carry Jesus, the Messiah. This familiar moment draws us into the wonder of a God who enters ordinary lives and accomplishes what we could never make happen on our own. Mary faces a choice: hold onto the story she expected, or surrender to God’s greater story. She doesn’t fixate on how this will work but focuses instead on who is speaking to her–the one who makes impossible, possible! Her response is to magnify the Lord, allowing her life to make God look big. Because He has done great things for her, her story becomes a witness to His power and faithfulness. And for those of us in Christ, the same is true for us. God has done great things in our stories! The question is whether we will surrender our lives fully to Him, trusting that nothing is impossible with God.
