Today we are discussing the 24th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Bath Lake in Medicine Park, Oklahoma.

The Annual Polar Bear Plunge is hosted by The Park Tavern. Liquid courage is available starting at 10:00 AM. All plungers should meet at the Tavern by 1:45 PM to participate in the parade to Bath Lake that starts at 2:00 PM. Costumes, weirdness and positive vibes strongly encouraged. Spectators are welcome and the party continues after the plunge. Bring your own towel.

Medicine Park began in 1908, when it was founded as Oklahoma’s first resort town. The founder, John William Elmer Thomas, fell in love with every aspect of it, from the unique cobblestone deposits, to the mountains and plains that surrounded the town, to the wilderness beyond the horizon. He bought the land and began construction on what he called the “Medicine Park Summer Resort and Health Spa”, referring to the medicinal qualities of the nearby Medicine Creek. Today it has a cozy vibe and is loads of fun.

Also discussed Ft. Sill, Lawton, Wichita Wildlife Refuge, LETRA, Lake Elmer Thomas, OKC, Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and OKC Thunder.
