They share their journey from event promoters and DJs to running one of the most visually and sonically distinct indie labels specializing in surf, exotica, lounge, soul, and cinematic funk.

We explore the origins of Hi-Tide, which started as a way to support surf music when other labels weren’t pressing vinyl, and how it evolved into a full-fledged record label with a global following. Vincent and Magdalena also discuss why they launched Nu-Tone Records—a home for artists they love that don’t quite fit the Hi-Tide aesthetic—and how they keep both brands distinct yet interconnected.

We dive deep into their approach to vinyl production, branding, and the importance of strong visual identity, as well as their thoughts on the resurgence of CDs and cassettes, the role of instrumental music in people’s lives, and how their catalog is becoming a soundtrack for modern life.

Plus, we talk about the impact of film and TV syncs, the importance of high-quality artwork, and how niche labels can find success by staying true to their vision.

If you’re a vinyl lover, a label owner, or just a fan of great music, this episode is packed with inspiration and insights!
