WEEK 23 SUMMARY

Doctrine and Covenants 58–59 offers guidance to early Saints as they begin to establish Zion in Missouri. In section 58, the Lord teaches that His followers must act with agency and faith, enduring tribulation patiently, for great blessings will come through their obedience and sacrifice. He calls leaders to specific duties and encourages them to prepare Zion through righteous living, not waiting to be commanded in all things. Section 59 focuses on Sabbath observance and gratitude, highlighting that true worship includes expressing thanks, keeping covenants, and living joyfully in harmony with God’s commandments. Together, these sections emphasize building Zion through personal righteousness, consecrated effort, and holy living.
