#78- The Stress of Trying to Stay Ahead
Manage episode 471187575 series 3513509
Your mind is always racing. You’re constantly in fix-it mode, solving problems before they happen. Always preparing, always anticipating. You tell yourself that if you stay ahead, you can avoid the crisis. But in reality, you’re just living on edge—trying to control every detail, yet feeling more disconnected than ever.
It’s stressful, isn’t it?
Your nervous system is on high alert. You get into control mode, convinced that if you let your guard down, everything will fall apart. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you’re always trying to get ahead? What is it that you’re afraid of?
We don’t like to admit our fears. But naming them is the first step to loosening their grip. The truth is, everything is not yours to carry.
You have to stop worrying about tomorrow—because God is already ahead of you. He’s already there, already working. You don’t have to control everything. The fear of releasing control is real, but so is the peace that comes when you trust that someone else—even God—has this.
Instead of holding onto everything so tightly, ask yourself:
- What do I actually need to do?
- What do I need to let others do?
When you’re working from depletion, trying to stay ahead just leaves you more exhausted. So before your mind starts racing again, stop and pause: "Lord, what do I need to do?" And then, take the next right step.
Quotes from Today’s Episode:
