Neurotrophic keratitis (NK) is a rare condition caused by trigeminal nerve damage, which results in decreased or absent corneal sensitivity and breakdown of the corneal epithelium. If not recognized and managed appropriately, it can lead to corneal ulceration and loss of vision. However, early diagnosis and treatment can improve outcomes.
This featured podcast includes an interview with an optometrist that highlights key considerations in diagnosing NK at an early stage and treating it with traditional and emerging therapies.
