In this episode of RANE Insights, Founder of RANE David Lawrence sits down with three leaders in cybersecurity and reputation management, Rahul Mukhi, Kelly Kimberly and Kellyn Wagner Ramsdell to break down what to do in the event an organization is involved in a ransomware attack.
Rahul Mukhi is a Partner at Cleary Gottlieb specializing in investigations, enforcement and regulatory matters as well as complex commercial litigation. Rahul joined Cleary Gottlieb in 2005. From 2010 - 2016, Rahul worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. He was a lead prosecutor on significant cases involving public corruption, cybercrime, financial and tax fraud, health care fraud, money laundering, and international organized crime. During his tenure, Rahul successfully conducted 10 jury trials and was responsible for some of the office’s most high-profile matters. He has been Recognized for Cyber Law and named a Next Generation Lawyer: M&A Litigation Defense by The Legal 500 U.S. and was granted the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Kelly Kimberly, Partner and Head of Houston for FGS Global, advises clients on reputation management, financial communications including M&A, shareholder activism and restructurings. She specializes in crisis and issues management, including responding to and preparing for cyber-incidents, as a senior member of the cyber team at FGS Global. She has advised clients across multiple industries involved in high profile crisis and litigation matters including multiple cybersecurity and data privacy issues; supporting legal counsel on issues such as employee misconduct, wrongful termination, business disputes and class action lawsuits; restructurings and bankruptcies; EPA enforcement matters; injuries and fatalities and resulting agency investigations. Earlier in her career, Kelly founded Kimberly Public Affairs, and served in several leadership roles at Enron.
Kellyn Wagner Ramsdell is the Associated Director of Threat Intelligence at Arete, responsible for enabling the delivery of high quality, clear, concise, and correct intelligence products that enable decision advantage. Her team performs attribution and sanctions assessment on more than 500 ransomware and extortion events each year, specializing in advising a specific threat actor’s expected impact in a victim environment. Kellyn has wide-reaching investigative and intelligence analysis experience in incident response, law enforcement, and the US intelligence community. She is an expert in tracking and disrupting cyber adversary infrastructure and operations. Prior to Arete, Kellyn specialized in developing new quantitative analysis methods for defensive and offensive cyber mission sets. She oversaw staff supporting the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, MITRE ATTACK, MITRE D3FEND, and MITRE Engage programs.
