Dyslexia is Global
I am honored to come and talk to you today about something that transcends all borders, economies, and even languages.
That is… Dyslexia.
Around the world, Dyslexia is the most common neurodevelopmental learning disability.
It affects 15-20% of the global population.
That means, in a classroom, whether you're in Mumbai, New Delhi, Cleveland, or Cape Town, 1 in 5 students has dyslexia.
They might be struggling to read, write, and spell, not because they're incapable, not because they're lazy.
That is because their brains process language differently.
We… educators, leaders, advocates, and politicians have a moral responsibility.
To see the child who is struggling silently.
To act early and decisively.
To base reading instruction on science, and not tradition.
And to ensure that no child's future is limited by the reading instruction they receive.
Dyslexia is not an American issue. It's not an Indian issue. It's a global human issue that requires international collaboration.
So, imagine with me, if we act together, we can shape a future where every child is screened early.
Every educator who teaches students with dyslexia is well-prepared with a deep knowledge base.
Every parent is informed.
And every student with dyslexia learns to read.
Imagine a world, imagine a nation, where every child learns to read.
Let us build it together.
Thank you.
