Elena is Resident Artist at State Theatre Company South Australia, NIDA Graduate and a highly accomplished actor and now playwright, including State Theatre's latest The Gods of Strangers. A play set in 1947 Port Pirie in regional South Australia and is inspired by Elena's childhood growing up in the region, her own ancestory and oral histories of Greek, Cypriot and Italian migrants. We go on a wonderful journey from Elena's childhood playing as cast and audience in the backyard in Port Pirie, and we discuss cultural diversity and respect, theatre and the arts, the importance of hard work to be successful and how young people simply driven by the desire to be famous is scary.
