In today's episode we look at the meaning of marriage from a first century Jesus perspective.

There are many references that Paul, Jesus and Peter make, pertaining to marriage, that we as gentile peoples don't understand so we need to ask ourselves:

  • What did Jesus mean when he was speaking about marriage? (Mark 10:7)
  • What does Paul mean when he says he has betrothed the community of believers to Christ? (2 Corinthians 11:2)
  • What does Peter mean when He says that we were not redeemed with perishable things such as gold or silver? (1 Peter 1:18-19)
  • What is the meaning of Jesus sharing the cup with his disciples before his crucifixion? (Luke 22:20)
  • What does it mean that Jesus goes to prepare a place for his bride? (John 14:3)

These references and more have unique meaning when we look at marriage from a Jewish perspective.
