Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Last week's surprise announcement of Steam Machine has sent the video game community into a spin. Although not really all that surprising when you really consider it, nonetheless, it was still the kind of news that creates buzz and has to make the major console platform holders feel a bit antsy (especially Microsoft). This week I wanted to give my thoughts on the Steam hardware that was announced, with a particular focus on the Steam Machine. We are witnessing history in the making with this announcement, but how impactful it will be remains to be seen. Will this be like back in 2015 where it sputtered out from day 1? Or will it be more like the Steam Deck, and find success? Everyone seems to have their own opinion on this topic, and so do I! Tune in to hear my thoughts and why this might be another great disrupting moment for the industry (in a good way).
