There are a lot of reasons why individuals go through a career shift. Unfortunately, many hiring managers and recruiters question a job candidate’s motivation when the shift is perceived as ‘backward’.

As an example, Directors and CRA managers often reach out to us with a desire to step back into a CRA role. Unfortunately, many agencies ignore these candidates, assuming the shift is out of desperation.

And while we do see candidates who are desperate and ‘willing to accept’ a position outside of their current career path, individuals who intentionally shift their careers are gold. These professionals have performed self-reflection and identified this career change aligns with their long-term goals. They have identified the personal motivations behind their decision to make the shift.

And because they have made a tactical and strategic decision to shift their career trajectory, they are typically excellent performers.
