Laforche, LA — Dessy Watson was just shy of age 12 when she was sexually assaulted by her best friend's step grandfather along with four other girls.

In this episode, Dessy breaks her silence and shares her story of trauma, survival and healing while coping through her traumatic experience as she walks us through her childhood, and the trial that ultimately convicted a child sexual predator. At the time of our conversation, Dessy was unaware of her abuser’s whereabouts, but we were able to locate him, and that information has been included in the episode.

This episode contains descriptions of sexual violence and assault.

If you or someone you know is a survivor of sexual assault and would like to speak with an advocate who is trained to help, The National Sexual Assault Hotline is 1-800-656-HOPE.

The National Sexual Violence Resource Center provides resources for sexual violence and prevention education at www.nsvrc.org
