HOW TO BE DIFFERENT
Colossians 4:2-6
1. Pray differently, v. 2
Three aspects to our prayers…
a) steadfastly- refers to our inward posture when we pray
b) being watchful- alert, don’t get lazy
Two ways you know you are not watchful in your prayers…
1) you say the same thing without much thought or emotion.
2) you think more about the people in the room hearing you pray than the God you are praying to.
c) with thanksgiving- grateful language, perspective on the God you are praying to
2. Think differently, v. 3-4.
Notice Paul’s prayer requests…
a) that God may open to us a door for the word
b) to declare the mystery of Christ
c) that I may make it clear
3. Walk differently, v. 5
4. Talk differently, v. 6
Colossians 4:6
Mental worship…
1. What is the average length of time you pray for something before giving up?
2. What do your prayers reveal about how you think?
3. Do you understand the difference between the opportunity and the outcome?
4. Does your speech need more salt or grace?
5. Are you more happy with or proud of your life?
