Nathalie Heywood Smith has been described as curious; and as an action-oriented advocate for developing businesses and their teams. Currently focused on growth at Pocstock, http://www.pocstock.com a global content company that creates, curates, and licenses stock imagery of people of color to businesses for marketing, advertising, communications and artificial intelligency.

Strategically Nathalie is a business leader with active involvement in shaping a company’s long-range vision and strategy, aligning People with the business creating long-term value. She is a seasoned executive with expertise in business development, organizational growth and talent. Nathalie has a proven record of empowering high growth startups to scale while building qualified People-centric programming, teams, employer brand, organizations. As a thought leader she has the experience as well as the vast knowledge of the latest in Human Resources innovation, proficient in industry best practices and groundbreaking trends.

Graduate of Fordham University, Nathalie started her professional career at Update Inc., by developing new business opportunities for the recruitment agency. While at Update, Nathalie created a division focused on recruiting and placing creative talent. Recognizing the need to expand, she started the first internal marketing department by prompting talented members of the business development group with an interest in marketing.

Nathalie’s ability to build a business resulted in designing the business model that ultimately became the blueprint for Update Inc. In 2016 Nathalie decided it was time to pursue other opportunities. She left Update, where she had attained the rank of Vice President, founded and managed the creative division, and had held a seat on the executive board.

After twenty-plus years at Update, Nathalie founded Heywood Smith Consulting (in 2016) at the behest of a group of clients who wanted to continue working with her because of her business acumen. HSC partners with startups and established high-net worth corporations, to build strategic and fiscally sound teams.

Nathalie is currently on the Board for AIR – Allies in Recruitment. An organization born out of the drive to create inclusive work environments.

Previously served as a member of the Advisory Board of Uncharted, is a power, data technology company on a mission to achieve universal access to low-cost, clean energy.

As former Board Member of InSource (the professional association for in-house creative leadership and management) Contributed as an author to a series of trade publications focused on creative leadership.

In addition to her professional activities, Nathalie engages in numerous social justice initiatives. She is co-founder of the CIC Program at Borough of Manhattan Community College, Learning Academy which helps at-risk students develop professional skills, build resumes, create portfolios and connect with corporate entities.

Internationally, Nathalie has served as Vice President and is a Founding Board Member of the Duncan Tree Foundation. The Foundation’s express mission is to bring health, wellness and medical treatment to underserved communities; and they have performed over 100 surgeries in Jamaica, Trinidad and the Philippines.
