Far more wave function collapses are driven by the laws of the macro world than the very small number that collapse early due to observation or measurement.
So much effort has been put into trying to understand the significance of the wave function collapse / decoherence that it has taken on an almost mystical surrealism. When we apply the same rigor we allocate to all other experiments as it relates the impacts of the observer effect then we must accept the possibility that the moment the interference pattern disappears, we are no longer watching nature in its natural state.
