Welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for June 21st.

It’s World Day of Music, and whether you’ve got Mozart in your earbuds or Metallica in your soul, today is your excuse to blast your favorite songs guilt-free. Go ahead—annoy your neighbors a little. It’s basically an international obligation.

Music is, without question, one of humanity's most beautiful inventions—aside from coffee and indoor plumbing, of course.

Which leads perfectly into today’s quote from U2 frontman, Bono - who once said:

“Music can change the world because it can change people.”

Now, leave it to Bono—rock star, activist, and man permanently wearing sunglasses indoors—to remind us that music isn’t just background noise. It’s transformative.

Think about the last time a song shifted your mood. Maybe it gave you courage when you needed it, comfort when you felt alone, or maybe it just helped you pretend you were in a dramatic movie montage while folding laundry. We've all been there.

But deeper than that, music connects people. It breaks barriers, builds empathy, and yes, as Bono says, it changes us. That’s what World Day of Music is really celebrating—not just the sound, but the power behind it.

So today, let a song move you. Let it inspire you. And if you happen to sing out loud in public? Just smile and pretend it was totally intentional.

I’m Andrew McGivern, signing off for now but I'll be back tomorrow, same pod time, same pod station for another Daily Quote.
