Welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for May 25th. Now, I hope you're ready to let your inner geek shine, because today is Geek Pride Day. Yes, May 25th is the one day of the year when it's not only acceptable to quote obscure sci-fi references, wear your Starfleet uniform to the grocery store, or debate the merits of JavaScript over Python—it’s celebrated. Geek Pride Day commemorates the release of the original Star Wars movie back in 1977. So if you’ve ever corrected someone’s use of “Jedi” as a plural noun, or own more dice than a casino, this day is for you. In honor of this beautifully nerdy occasion, today's quote comes from one of the greatest minds in geekdom—Carl Sagan. He once said:

“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”

Let that sink in for a second. Whether you’re hacking away at code, reading quantum theory for fun, or building a Lego Millennium Falcon that costs more than your rent—this quote is your anthem. Geek Pride Day is all about embracing curiosity and passion, the kind that leads you to fall down Wikipedia rabbit holes at 2 a.m. or build your own computer just to see if you can. Carl Sagan reminds you that being a geek isn't just about loving the obscure—it's about loving the unknown, and being bold enough to explore it.

So today, wear your quirks proudly. Dive headfirst into that book, that project, that game, that theory—because that’s where something incredible might be hiding. And if someone calls you a geek, say "Thank you" and offer them a lightsaber.

That’s it for today’s episode. I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off for today but I’ll be back tomorrow - same pod time, same pod station with another Daily Quote.
