Welcome to the Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm Andrew McGivern for December 1st.Today is National Eat A Red Apple Day. Simple. Direct. Just eat an apple. And not just any apple a red apple. Why does it have to be a red apple, because green granny smith apples have their own day. That's why.And that brings us to today's quote from an unknown author. An old Welsh proverb says:"An apple a day keeps the doctor away."The saying dates back to 1866 Wales. Different phrasing, same truth. Apples are good for you.Apples have high fiber content and antioxidants like quercetin and polyphenols which support heart health, digestion, and disease prevention.Apples reduce the risk of heart disease by helping reduce cholesterol and blood pressure and reduces stroke risk. And the quercetin in apples helps lower type 2 diabetes risk. Possibly reducing risk by up to 18%. Pectin fiber acts as a prebiotic, promoting beneficial gut bacteria.Apples combat oxidative stress, inflammation and even help prevent certain cancers like lung and breast cancer according to research. So maybe this quote can actually be taken literally! But here's the real point: simple habits matter. Like eatin an apple. Drinking water. Walking. Sleep.Health isn't complicated. We just tend to make it complicated. So today, eat a red apple. That's it.Notice how simple health can be when you stop overthinking it.One apple. One day. Start there. That's going to do it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern signing off for now but I'll be back tomorrow. Same Pod time, same Pod Station - with another Daily Quote.
