“Work harder.”
We’ve all heard it. Chances are you are trying to live by it right now with the uncertainty of the world. But with mental health on the decline and burnout at an all-time high, it’s clear this old-school mentality isn’t working. We are taking a closer look at the toxic "work hard" culture that many of us inherited, and have been force-fed the belief that hard work is synonymous with a strong work ethic.
Working countless hours, being on call 24/7 has been seen as a badge of pride for so many, but it doesn’t have to be like that.
I share my personal journey of waking up from the hustle trap, despite starting work at age 12 and doing “everything right.” I realized that the traditional model of success wasn’t the one I wanted. I didn’t want to be the overworked, underpaid, live-for-retirement kind of person. I wanted freedom, joy, and yes—champagne-on-a-yacht kind of success.
