[00:01 - 03:27] What is Ayurveda and Your Energy Type?
Ayurveda is an ancient system for understanding your energy blueprint. Three main energy types: Vata (air and ether), Pitta (fire and water), and Kapha (earth and water). Each energy type has unique characteristics that influence how you move through the world. While we all have all three types inside of us, one or two usually dominate. Knowing your energy type helps you align with your natural rhythm and avoid burnout.
[03:28 - 05:20] Vata: The Fast-Moving Hummingbird
Vata energy is creative, spontaneous, and adaptable. When in balance, Vata feels light, energetic, and full of ideas. Out of balance, Vata can lead to overwhelm, anxiety, and difficulty following through. A grounding breath practice helps slow down a racing mind and reconnect with the body. Quick movement, like yoga or stretching, can help stabilize the energy.
[05:21 - 07:10] Pitta: The Focused Race Car
Pitta energy is intense, driven, and laser-focused. When balanced, Pitta is productive and transformative. In burnout mode, Pitta can push through exhaustion and get frustrated easily. Cooling breathwork helps calm the fire and restore balance. Remember, rest isn't failure – it's necessary for sustainable productivity.
[07:11 - 08:35] Kapha: The Grounded Bear
Kapha energy is steady, nurturing, and grounded. When in balance, Kapha provides stability and strength. Out of balance, Kapha can lead to stagnation, lack of motivation, and lethargy. A "breath of fire" technique helps energize the system and reignite passion. Incorporating movement into your routine helps create momentum and get things moving again.
[08:36 - 10:28] Your Challenge: Notice and Shift Your Energy
Identify your dominant energy type: Are you a hummingbird, race car, or bear?
Pay attention to how your energy feels throughout the day.
Try one simple shift: practice breathwork, add some movement, or slow down to re-center yourself.
