Join Mossy Oak Properties Agents, Doug Kinser and Davis Fleming as they discuss stories of rescues and emergencies directed by Tennessee State Parks Chief Ranger T. Shane Petty. Shane is currently the Operations Chief for Maury County OEM, overseeing operations, search and rescue, and the K-9 program. From 1989–1993, he was a park ranger at Henry Horton State Park and later served as Chief Ranger for all 56 Tennessee State Parks until retiring in 2023. He managed 250 rangers and led emergency teams including wildland fire, search and rescue (SAR), mounted, and K-9 units. He has run 2,000+ SAR missions and helped locate 280+ missing persons with his bloodhounds.
A co-founder of Tracking and Search and Rescue (TSAR) and adjunct instructor at the TN Law Enforcement Academy for 29 years, he has received numerous honors including State Park Ranger of the Year, Columbia State Alumni of the Year, and a Governor’s Day of Recognition. He holds degrees from Columbia State, Middle Tennessee University, and Bethel University, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He is also the author of two books: Lost and Hound and So God Made Rangers.8 episodes
