Today, we delve into leadership, starting with the truth: "Leaders get what they create; losers get what happens to them". Many people who hold titles are not truly leading. We break down what genuine leadership and influence look like, contrasting the boss (who sits on the block) with the leader (who pulls with the team).

Dean explains that success isn't just about managing tasks; it's about shifting culture. The goal is to reach the Sustain phase, where the team makes decisions independently. The ultimate measure of his influence is when his management team thinks, "WWDD" (What Would Dean Do).

A cornerstone of his culture is simple: "We don't have a jerk in the building". To foster this safety and trust, the leader must be willing to show vulnerability. Dean shares how he openly communicated to his team when he was "not emotionally stable" or "overcaffeinated" due to personal or professional stress. This transparency sets the standard, making it safe for employees to admit they are having a bad day. Leaders must recognize that their behavior—even without explanation—will be negatively interpreted by employees (e.g., "he's a jerk").

If you feel trapped in your business because employees won't work without you, you are the bottleneck. Dean encourages you to lead by example, show up, and embrace the necessary pain, as you have the power to fundamentally change people's lives.

Join us next time as Dean shares his incredible journey from a tradesman to a CEO, offering hope that if he can do it, you can too.

Stop being afraid. Lead. This hour is designed to help you move from chaos to clarity.
