The Bosnian genocide, occurring during the 1992–1995 Bosnian War, saw systematic ethnic cleansing and mass murder of Bosniaks by Bosnian Serb forces. Sparked by Yugoslavia’s breakup and fueled by ethnonationalist leaders, atrocities included massacres at Srebrenica, Sarajevo, and Vlasenica. Over 8,000 men and boys were killed in Srebrenica alone. The war ended with the 1995 Dayton Agreement, but the scars and pursuit of justice continue.
