Today’s guest is inventor, philosopher, visionary, Steve Adams of Lynchburg VA.
A few weeks ago we published a piece on “The start of a journey” where I talked about being shown the Southern Cross by an orphan. A friend wrote me about that radio spot, and now he hoped a childless couple would find inspiration, or how an orphan child might find hope of finding a permanent family. The first child we adopted was much older when we took him, and had lived in orphanages and foster homes for years. He would talk about the struggles of losing possessions, and of being crammed into a home where the foster parents just wanted the extra income. One story in particular got me. He told about most weekends the kids would dress up in their Sunday best, line up to be inspected by potential parents, only to be passed over time and time again. This does not represent all situations, but as his stories came out overtime, and even today, I tear up as I tell them. My heart swells that we saved one unwanted child. And knowing adoption is so much more than just a blessing to the parents.
