Mass timber—such as cross-laminated timber and engineered wood—enables 12-story buildings that meet building codes, resist fire, and reduce embodied carbon while cutting costs and speeding up construction. Lighter components mean smaller cranes, shorter schedules, and simpler logistics. Since buildings contribute to more than a third of global emissions, shifting from cement- and steel-heavy structures to wood where appropriate is a meaningful step without waiting for future technology.
