Although Peter Falk starred in Columbo, which aired most of its episodes in the 1970s, the detective drama is still making its presence felt today: Not only has the show become a surprise streaming hit, but the creators of both Elsbeth and Poker Face have said their shows were at least partially inspired by Columbo. Of course, when people think of Columbo and the late Peter Falk’s title character (Lieutenant Frank Columbo), the first image that comes to mind is his signature look, featuring that beige raincoat. Was that look a stroke of genius by the show’s wardrobe director? Actually, when we spoke to Falk about it years ago, he admitted it was pretty much just a stroke of luck!
