William Marks is running as a Democrat for Congress in Texas’s 25th District. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1996 and then had a 22-year career in the military and 6-year career at Meta.
His website is www.williammarks.com.
Spoiler: At the 11:30 mark, I accidentally activated my camera’s auto-tracking, so it looks like I’m going up and down in my chair as my camera adjusts to my movements. It’s a little bit funny, but distracting. My apologies. -Bruce de Torres, Director of Communications, American Small Business League
William navigated ships around the globe, worked in crisis communications at the Pentagon, and became senior military spokesperson for the Pacific fleet as well as for the Defense Intelligence Agency.
From www.williammarks.com, “Marks was Chief of Media for the U.S. Navy from 2015-2016, directing the Navy’s engagement with national and international journalists, including crisis communications during an international hostage situation, a mass shooting, and roll out of the Navy’s $160 billion budget proposal.”
“I was the senior spokesperson for DoD intelligence issues, leading media engagement and special projects for the Vice President and Ambassador Nikki Haley. In this role I held a Top Secret / SCI security clearance.”
“In my work at Meta as a community manager for the Western U.S. I awarded $10 million dollars to schools, small businesses, and non-profits. I gained valuable experiences in the technology and communications field and know how to work with the private sector for the betterment of the American people.”
In this conversation, William said that he, first, wants to make jobs better, with a living wage and better benefits. Big corporations should invest in their employees, with training and education.
Second, improve healthcare, reform our broken healthcare system and get it right. Do something about the middle managers who make billions of dollars. “Their profit goes up when they deny your claim.”
Third, make everyday living affordable for all Texans and all Americans, by “removing tariffs, removing barriers for small business, removing red tape and endless paperwork.”
Then we discussed the American Small Business League’s www.dontcheatwomen.com project.
Men dominate in politics because they earn and save more than women. They give more to politicians and therefore have more influence. It’s easier for men to run for office. Men hold roughly 75% of seats in the House, Senate, State Legislatures, and cabinet positions, almost that many governorships, and 90% of committee chair and party leadership positions. Women have different political values and priorities, which deserve equal representation.
