SUMMARY. We discuss with Fulvio Bartolucci the current state as well as the future of renewable energy trading in the world’s largest electric power market, China. Fulvio, a highly experienced industry participant and GM at Tera Energies, first provides his insights on the nation's energy transition from brown to green emphasising the country’s advantages and disadvantages in undertaking the transition. We then assess the current state of electricity trading and direct power sales in general, and that of renewable energy trading in particular. Other issues covered include distributed renewable energy, Green Energy Certificates and carbon trading, and the crucial importance of the digital infrastructure currently being built. Finally, Fulvio examines the key forward factor in the development of the energy transition in China, flexible or modular clean energy generation.
ABOUT FULVIO. Fulvio has spent nearly two decades developing solutions for sustainable energy projects across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Beginning as an environmental strategy consultant, he was inspired by early field work in Cambodia and Bangladesh to create a microfinance start-up operating in Italy. Active in Asia’s renewables industry since 2007, Fulvio’s work has focused on low-carbon, renewable and energy efficiency projects. Before co-founding Adenergy and its JV Tera, Fulvio served as Director for several companies operating in green Energy and carbon reduction in China: Azure International, Ecofys / OneCarbon, Orbeo. He then piloted the Sustainable Energy transition in APAC region for a multinational industrial player: Rhodia / Solvay group. Besides his renewable energy leadership, Fulvio is also active in Asia’s smart building and smart city movement.
