On this episode of The Cine-Files, Steve Morris and John Rocha travel back by boat to 1983 to begin their exploration of 1983's Scarface from director Bryan DePalma starring Al Pacino. It is a remake of the 1932 film from director Howard Hawks which starred Paul Muni which and was based on the 1930 novel. This remake tells the story of Cuban refugee Tony Montana (Pacino), who arrives in Miami during the Mariel boatlift and goes from low level lieutenant with his best friend Manny (Bauer) by his side to powerful drug lord. And after a power struggle with an even more ruthless drug lord, he meets a bloody end in iconic fashion. The film co-stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Steven Bauer, Robert Loggia, F. Murray Abraham, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. Steve and John go thru the movie scene by scene and break down the direction, acting, storylines, cinematography, score, action sequences and more.
