Dylan has many strong song-writing attributes but chief amongst these strengths has got to be his ability to create a narrative song. Paul explores his narrative power by featuring three finely crafted Dylan narratives - Caribbean Wind, Workingman Blues # 2, and 'Cross Green Mountain. For even the low level Dylan historian(myself), we recall that the bulk of Dylan's popular work was done in the 60s and 70s. So what was he doing in the 80s? His albums suggest that he found Jesus and also did some musical drifting, typical of Dylan's mystique. Well, I was intrigued by a Dylan album labeled "Best of the 80s", so I decided to explore more of that era. Unsurprisingly, treasure was found. Even during his seemingly least prolific era, Dylan was making tunes that most musicians would envy. The 80s choices are: Pressing On and Series of Dreams. Finally, Dylan just released his critically applauded album "Tempest". We'll play a few favorites from the new album and, of course, would love to play some pre-show requests. If you have a favoritie Dylan song that fits the narrative theme, 80s era or is off the new album, send your request to [email protected] or post the request on our facebook page. We hope to hear from you.
