The latest TEBI Podcast, is devoted to the subject of excessive pay among company CEOs. In it I interview two experts on the subject:

Corinne Carr, founder of the remuneration consultancy PeopleNet; and

Luke Hildyard, Executive Director of the High Pay Centre, which carries out research and analysis on issues relating to executive pay, corporate governance and business performance.

Among the questions I ask them are these:

Why is excessive pay such a problem? What can be done about it?

Why can’t fund managers exert more of an influence over company boards when it comes to remuneration?

Is part of the problem that fund managers are themselves very well paid and therefore not best placed to lecture company boards on the subject?

And why is pay in the asset management industry so high?
