Abstract: This article examines the coevolution of work patterns and economic development through an organizational complexity lens. As economies advance from agricultural to industrial to knowledge-based structures, both work arrangements and organizational forms undergo fundamental transformations. The research synthesizes evidence on how increases in economic complexity necessitate corresponding evolutions in work coordination, skill development, and institutional arrangements.
