PREVIEW — John Hardie — The Evolution of Drone Warfare in the Ukraine Conflict. Hardie analyzes the expanding, evolving role of unmanned systems in the Ukraine war. Early intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) drones, including the Turkish TB2, became progressively less effective as Russia improved integrated air defense capabilities. Subsequently, FPV (first-person view) combat drones became operationally critical, supplementing larger bomber-category unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)—often adapted agricultural equipment—deployed by both combatants, particularly Ukraine, to deliver precision munitions against distributed targets.
