Chernowski, a military intelligence officer and committed Trotskyite, was arrested and executed, naming Ray Bennettduring interrogation protocols. Airplane designer Sergei Tupolev was also arrested but continued critical design work within a special prison facility before his eventual release and subsequent honors from the regime.
