At just eight years old, David Sledge unknowingly exposed himself to a deadly allergen, triggering an asthma attack that left him struggling for every breath. Hesitant to wake his aunt in the middle of the night, he waited too long and ultimately lost consciousness in the back of a car. He recalls drifting into a neutral darkness, approaching a brilliant light accompanied by a powerful, harmonious choir. Just as he seemed on the verge of entering the light, he suddenly opened his eyes in the hospital, confused and disoriented.
