From the time he learned to read, Steve Trout was following box scores and idolizing his local DC sports teams and sportscaster George Michael as a sports obsessed kid growing up in Reston, VA. On this episode of The Pod, Steve shares how he cultivated his passion for all things sports into calling high school sporting events to pursuing a sports journalism degree at James Madison University and writing articles and columns for the school newspaper. Soon after graduation, Steve found his way behind the camera shooting games and serving as an on-air talent at NBC29 WVIR in Charlottesville and ultimately landing at NFL Films in 2004 where he is a four-time Emmy award-winning Producer/Director from his work on the sports documentary series Hard Knocks and All or Nothing. Steve provides a unique, behind-the-scenes peak into these productions and the storytelling elements that make these series so compelling.
