Before life, we make commitments to do and be certain things. We call these "Soul Contracts", and if you are not on the path to live yours, life could feel hard, heavy, unfulfilling, or you can feel anxious, depressive and not yourself. Our body and Higher Self (soul consciousness) will send these types of issues our way to help us put our attention to getting back on track with the life we wanted to live here on Earth.
