In this episode, Marie-Anne speaks with Visual Artist Antonio Jose Guzman.

One half of creative duo Electric Dub Station, Antonio’s creative journey has its roots in the punk scene in his native Panama before moving to The Netherlands and embracing the 90s warehouse rave culture as a photographer.

Together with Serbian Painter and Textile Artist Iva Jankovic, Electric Dub Station explores the relationship between creolisation, migration, decolonising textiles and the alchemy of indigo, a sacred dye with deep significance in indigenous communities from West Africa to South America to India.

The duo has exhibited at biennials worldwide including Dakar, Havana, Venice and Panama as well as museums and festivals from Miami to Amsterdam.

Antonio talks anti establishment, finding advocacy in the arts and Electric Dub Station’s current offering, Concrete Roots, showing at Liverpool Biennial until 14 September 2025.
