Discovering Our True Identity: A Journey to Finding Identity in Christ

Feeling lost and not connecting with your identity in Christ can affect your relationships, career, and overall well-being. Finding and solidifying your identity in Christ can help you find clarity and fulfillment.

Breaking Free from False Identities

In our journey to find our identity in Christ, we must let go of the false identities we've accumulated over time. These may have formed due to societal pressures, family expectations, or traumatic experiences. Such identities often lead us to wear an armor of perfectionism and control, preventing us from experiencing genuine connections and growth.

The first step towards shedding this armor is acknowledging the origin story of these identities.

The Role of Trauma in Shaping Identity

Our parent's past trauma lands on us and shapes who we think we have to be. We are sponges as kids and absorb what we see happening around us. Often, this leads us to think we have to be a certain way, and it builds self-doubt when we don't feel we are living up to the expectations we've put on ourselves. We build up the lie of thinking we are alone and that it is all up to us. When we feel isolated in this way, we believe that we need to be our protector and that everything we need to succeed is within us. These negative thoughts lead us further from our identity in Christ as we think we have to take on the role of God in our own lives.
