Most of us have heard of functional programming, but most of us also "nope out" fairly quickly on seeing our first few lines of Haskell. UQCS alum, Googler, and resident Scala aficionado Max Bo (@MaxwellBo) joins us to talk through why it's worth putting in that initial extra effort, how he got started, and how the "functional renaissance" has come to influence all sorts of functional and non-functional languages.
