What did he think he was doing?
Quick answer: He thought he was loyally continuing his set of related missions that included falsely defecting to Russia and working in New Orleans to weed out possible Cuban sympathizers.
And the thing is, with every activity and association added to his cover lore (let alone those attributed to him even without his presence), he tightened his own noose for what was to come.
Inspired by recent JFK research brush ups and listening to podcasts with the great Jim DiEugenio as guest, one in particuar being Out of the Blank episode 1128, with Jim, Larry Hancock, Gary Hill, Jefferson Morley, and Paul Bleau.
NOTE: Besides my mostly-caught incidences of saying Roger instead of Guy (Banister), another error - at about 20:20 I said anti-Fidel when I meant pro.
