The Fall of the Roman Empire saw a setback for Western Civilization. Europe entered a time known as the Dark Ages. Political, economic, military, and educational institutions fell into disarray. However, learning continued in the nooks and crannies of various countries. Memorization of God’s Word continued even with fervency.
